current craves

I'm an avid fan of Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman.  Since having my Lucas Kane, I haven't had the time to see what she's been cooking lately.  I went on her site today, and instantly marked two recipes that I'll be whipping up within the next few days.  Here they are, maybe you should try them as well...

Chocolate Chip Caramel Ice Cream Sundae

Shrimp Tacos

Jenneration Yarns

For those of you who love Lucas Kane's blanket and hat, they are from the Etsy shop Jenneration Yarns.  The shop has such cute items, here are some of my favorites.  Click on the Etsy shop link to see all her items, and I'm sure you can convo her for custom items as well.

modern mobile

We opted to not paint Lucas Kane's nursery, so all the walls are white.  I found this Flensted mobile to add a punch of color to his room.  I'm also waiting on some tree decals that I ordered from etsy.  One's these two additions have arrived, I promise to showcase his nursery.

baby faves

Having a newborn baby is such a surreal experience.  As I think of being a new mommy, words such as happiness, love, and joy come to mind.  As Lucas Kane is almost 3 weeks old, there are just some items that have helped us out tremendously.  Here are a few items that we use on a daily basis and can't live without.

Avent Soothie Pacifier, 0-3 months

Arm's Reach Co-Sleeper Mini Bassinet Convertible

Rainforest Melodies & Lights Deluxe Gym

Bamboo Baby Scratch Mittens
Rainforest Bouncer

Bib'expresso

what i'm lovin'

With the 4th of July coming up, I turned to etsy to find a cute lil' outfit for my Lucas Kane.  I came across several onesie's that were so festive and patriotic.  I decided on the one below in red, but it also can be ordered in white {shown above} or royal blue.  It's from the etsy shop We Choose Joy.

Here are some of the other onesie's that I loved as well... Click on the link, and it will redirect you to the etsy shop.

{Mumsy Goose}
{Couture For Kids}

we've moved

Just wanted to share our "moving announcements" that we sent out to our family and friends.  Instead of sending out a blast email, I opted for post cards that include our new home address in Hawaii.  They are from Tiny Prints and you can find them here

a sneak peek

Baby Lucas Kane had his newborn photography session this past Sunday.  I had recently posted about our photographer here.  Lisa from Simply Baby Photography is so talented and such a gem.  She posted this sneak peak on her FB page and I just can't wait to see the rest of the photos.  I am in l.o.v.e.!

a birthday {May 29, 2012}

Once getting admitted, the contractions were closer and closer.  Medicine is produced for a reason, and I was not going to pass it up.  The epidural is a life saver and was my friend, a really good friend.  I didn't mind feeling numb and having to have a catheter didn't bother me... as long as I didn't feel pain.
Pitocin was used to help me dilate to 10 cm, and as each hour passed we waited and waited.  The sun went down, and rose the next day.  I was only dilating to 8 cm, I couldn't get to 10.  Finally the doctor came in and suggested we do a c-section, I was tired and ready to get the baby out.  I said let's do it, I was ready.  It all happened so fast, I was prepped and wheeled into another room.  I was given more medicine, I could not feel a single thing.  {Finally} At 11:22 a.m., Lucas Kane Denson was born at 7 pounds, 14 ounces and 21 1/4 inches in length.  He is healthy and just perfect.

The three of us came home from the hospital on Friday, June 1st.

2 weeks ago today...

I started labor.  On Monday, May 28th {2 days past my due date}, I woke up between 4 - 5 a.m. with mild contractions.  At the time, I wasn't sure what they were and tried going back to sleep.  I maybe slept for another hour or so, and woke up again.  This time around, I knew something was up.  I called the on-call OB at the hospital, and they suggested I go in.  We got to the hospital around 9:30 am, but could not be admitted since I was not dilated enough. {side note: at my last weekly OB visit, I was not even dilated... like not at all}.  I walked the hospital floors for 2 hours, the contractions were getting worse. At the end of the 2 hours they checked me again, but still could not get admitted.  I walked the hospital floor for another hour and wow, let me just say that these contractions were the worst pain I ever felt in my entire life.  At the end of the excruciating hour, I could finally get admitted.  Once I entered my delivery room, it was 2:30 p.m.  This was when it all started... my 26 hour labor.  Yes, I wrote that correctly... twenty-six hours!!!

I will continue my labor/birth story in tomorrow's post. But here's a picture of my sweet baby Lucas Kane...
